Since Amorim’s arrival from Sporting CP, Man United have been linked with moves for some of his former players, with striker Viktor Gyokeres believed to be of interest, while they are also known to be keen on 17-year-old winger Geovany Quenda.

Jacobs has now dropped a new update on United’s pursuit of Quenda in an interview with GiveMeSport, saying: “Talks are advancing, but not necessarily advanced, because Manchester United are sticking to their number.

“And at the moment, as you would expect, Sporting are doing the same as well. So there has been a little bit of an impasse, but Jorge Mendes is directly involved in negotiations, and because the player has a desire to join Manchester United, they remain hopeful that something can get done.

“They see appeal in a talented teenager who can join when he’s 18, and can play right-wing or right wing-back.”

Quenda making waves in Portugal

The young winger, who is expected to cost around £50m, has already established himself as a regular starter for Sporting, making 23 appearances in the Liga Portugal this season, during which time he has picked up one goal and four assists.

The teenager has particularly impressed with his dribbling ability, ranking in the 94th percentile for successful take-ons per 90 over the past year, when compared to his positional peers, and the 87th percentile for progressive carries.

Portugal boss Roberto Martinez has also praised the Sporting starlet, suggesting he could soon be ready to collect his first cap for his national side.

“He had an excellent European Championship with the U17s. He has stepped into the first team of Sporting and demonstrated an astonishing personality.”

As such, it is exciting news that Quenda is keen on a move to Old Trafford, and his ability to play at wing-back is an added bonus, given that Amorim has made it clear he will not compromise on his three-at-the-back system.

Propper agrees three-year deal to leave Rangers for FC Twente return

According to reports in the Netherlands, relayed by Sport Witness, Propper, who joined Rangers last summer from FC Twente, could be about to make his return to the Eredivisie side.

The Gers paid £2.5m to sign Propper, however, they are now ready to sell the centre-back for half of that figure, with the player himself already agreeing a three-year deal to return to Twente.

An agreement between Twente and Rangers is expected to be finalised quickly, with Propper not in Martin’s Ibrox plans.

As can be seen, Propper featured regularly under Clement and interim boss Barry Ferguson, but his days in Scotland look numbered.

A move will be one to keep an eye on, especially as the transfer window is set to shut on June 10 and re-open again on June 16.

Over the course of a five-match series against England, he took three wickets in 15 overs and leaked 11.73 runs an over; never before or since has a player bowled more balls in a bilateral T20I series with a worse economy rate.The challenge was brutal, bowling legspin to a destructive batting line-up on some of the smallest international grounds in world cricket, but even so, the figures were damning. At 27 and as a purveyor of a skill where players peak late, Sodhi had time on his side to reflect on what had gone wrong, and sought out his long-time team-mate Mitchell Santner for advice.”I knew his ability to be aggressive and defensive at the same time was something I definitely had to learn from,” Sodhi recalls, speaking to ESPNcricinfo. “We speak about spin bowling quite regularly – I’m probably the one that’s instigating it most of the time, but having the bowler at the other end to bounce ideas off is great.”Since then, Sodhi has improved markedly in T20I cricket, averaging 17.09 with an economy rate of 7.72, despite playing the majority of games at home. The key, he says, has been stopping worrying about emulating others. “I’ve thought about that [England] series quite a lot over the last two years,” he says. “I remember speaking to a few people about it before I came away [to the T20 World Cup] and where the development had come from.

“He’s definitely revolutionised legspin bowling. The way he does it is unique: it’s not so much the old 90s way that we grew up watching – legspin with two fingers up, two fingers down and trying to get drift and dip. “If you look at Imran Tahir, Rashid Khan, Wanindu Hasaranga, all those great legspinners playing a lot of their cricket in Asian conditions, they’re spinning the ball both ways, bringing the stumps into play, I think that’s always been a blueprint for what legspin should look like in T20 cricket. Up until that point, that’s how I based my game in New Zealand – even though most of the time the wickets don’t really allow for much turn.”That series was definitely a reminder that bowling in New Zealand, compared to anywhere else in the world, is unique for any bowler – even more so for a legspin bowler. Playing on small grounds is something we really need to get used to, and it means that having those defensive options is really important. According to UOL, as relayed by Molineux News, Pereira has now directly asked Wolves to sign Robert Renan, who he worked with during his time in Saudi Arabia and at Corinthians. The 21-year-old defender now reportedly has a release clause worth £22m at Zenit St. Petersburg and, after spending the season on loan at Al-Shabab, could yet be on his way to the Premier League.

Still just 21 years old, Renan has found himself at the centre of impressive praise for how he’s risen through the ranks in recent seasons. That includes from U23 scout Antonio Mango, who praised the defender for his “great mobility and acceleration” in 2023.

Two years on from that praise, the young centre-back has only upped his game, which could leave him in line for his biggest opportunity yet. Pereira knows him well and Wolves have money to spend, which means that Renan’s arrival could make perfect sense for all parties this summer.

Having reportedly requested the Brazilian’s arrival, it will certainly be interesting to see whether Pereira gets his wish at Wolves in the coming months.
