Tottenham Hotspur are now ready to fight for the signature of an “amazing” in-demand striker, with talks potentially set to commence in the coming weeks, according to a report.
Spurs in need of a striker
Prior to Dominic Solanke’s return from injury, Ange Postecoglou experimented with a number of different options in attack, but none of the replacements have managed to consistently find the back of the net.
Richarlison has scored just two Premier League goals this term, having also struggled with injuries, while Mathys Tel has just one goal in six games since arriving on loan from Bayern Munich until the end of the season.
As such, there are clear signs Postecoglou will need to bring in a new striker this summer, and Spurs have identified a number of potential targets, although they have recently been dealt a blow in their pursuit of RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

Arsenal are said to have overtaken Tottenham in the race for Sesko’s signature, which means Postecoglou’s side may be forced to move on to other targets, and a report from Spain has now revealed they are ready to fight it out for Lille’s Jonathan David.
David is one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe, given that he is available on a free transfer at the end of the campaign, and there may be competition for his signature from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle United.

The English clubs view the Canadian as a perfect target, given the level of his performances in Ligue 1 and the Champions League, and talks are expected to start in the coming weeks, although it is unclear whether Spurs specifically will start negotiations.
"Amazing" David on fire in the Champions League
Lille still have a good chance of progressing to the Champions League quarter-finals, having drawn 1-1 with Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their round of 16 tie, and their striker has been one of their key players.
The Canada international has scored six goals in nine games in Europe’s elite competition, while also providing two assists, showcasing he is capable of performing at the very highest level.
After scoring against Montpellier at the weekend, the 25-year-old is remarkably now on 32 goal contributions in all competitions this season, indicating he very much deserves a move to one of Europe’s top clubs.
The Lille star has impressed in Ligue 1 for quite some time, being lauded as “amazing” by journalist Rick Westhead during the 2022-23 campaign, at which point he was outscoring the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
Given that David is set to be available on a free transfer, he could be the perfect striker target for Tottenham, but they may find it very hard to compete for his signature, unless they manage to qualify for the Champions League via a Europa League triumph.
da wazamba: Turning their attention towards the summer transfer window, Arsenal are now reportedly looking to hijack AC Milan’s move to sign a defensive reinforcement alongside interest in Matheus Cunha.
Arsenal transfer news
da 888casino: All but down and out in the Premier League title race thanks to knockout blows from West Ham United and Nottingham Forest, Arsenal’s task is clearer than ever this summer. They must rebuild Mikel Arteta’s attack. That must be their priority if they want to finally end their wait for England’s biggest honour for the first time in over two decades.
With that priority in mind, it’s no surprise that the rumours have already been coming thick and fast as names such as Alexander Isak threaten to steal the headlines. As things stand, it certainly seems like the Newcastle United man is the Gunners’ number one target, but whether they can afford to match his reported £150m price tag is another question entirely.
Send him to Saudi: Arteta must sell Arsenal star who's a "bit of a moaner"
The Arsenal star has been disappointing this season.

If it’s not the Swede, meanwhile, then it may well be Cunha. After failing to secure a move to The Emirates or elsewhere in January, the Brazilian put pen to paper on a new deal at Wolverhampton Wanderers which reportedly includes a release clause of £62m. A far more affordable option than Isak, Arsenal are seemingly among those eyeing Cunha’s signature once again this summer.
He’s not the only Wolves star they could sign, either. According to Caught Offside, Arsenal are now looking to hijack AC Milan’s move to sign Rayan Ait-Nouri this summer.
WolverhamptonWanderers' Rayan Ait-Nouri celebrates scoring their first goal
The Italian giants have reportedly been lining up a move to sign the left-back as a replacement for Theo Hernandez, who looks set to leave the San Siro this summer. Arsenal could yet stand in the way of that move, however, and perhaps even match Wolves’ €60m (£50m) price tag when the summer arrives.
"Talented" Ait-Nouri would add surprise attacking spark
If reports are to be believed and Ait-Nouri is on Arsenal’s radar, then those in North London could be about to see the end of central defenders inverting at full-back with natural players preferred in such a role. Ait-Nouri would certainly be a solid candidate if that is to be the case too, given how his attacking exploits would help to sharpen a blunt Arsenal attack.

A player who often steps onto the front foot and leaves his mark, Ait-Nouri is exactly the type of driving force Arteta needs to ignite his side’s attacking spark once again.
Earning plenty of praise during his time at Wolves, former manager Gary O’Neil told reporters when asked about the left-back: “I know he’s played a lot of games for Wolves and he’s extremely talented, but there’s still a lot of learning that he needs to do in his understanding of the game.”
At just 23 years old, there’s still plenty more to come from Ait-Nouri whether it’s at Wolves, AC Milan or, indeed, Arsenal.

WHAT HAPPENED?
Mullin remains a fan favourite at SToK Racecourse after registering more than 100 goals for the Red Dragons while helping them to promotion out of the National League and League Two. The 2024-25 campaign has been a tough one for the 30-year-old frontman.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The target has been found on just three occasions, with only nine starts being recorded. Mullin has not figured in a matchday squad since February 23, with record-breaking transfer business in January seeing him slip down the pecking order.
DID YOU KNOW?
There has been talk of Wrexham sanctioning a sale in the next window, freeing up funds and squad space for further additions, with Phil Parkinson looking for more Championship pedigree to be added to his ranks.

WHAT EFL PUNDIT SAID
Former EFL star turned pundit David Prutton has told of Mullin’s situation: "As we saw when he first joined the club, dropping out of the EFL, he took a real chance and a gamble. Yes, you would say it was a well-paid gamble, but he's delivered the goals that have given the foundations of a side that has gotten itself into the Championship, which is a glorious thing to see.
"There would be an element of sentiment there, I don't think he would be used sentimentally. I think he's a player that is proven to be a very decent part of this Wrexham side. However, the Championship, as we know, is brutal. Wrexham, potentially, given their financial foundations, may want to think that – and this is casting no shade on Paul Mullin – they maybe want to look at someone more established from a Championship point of view, or someone dropping down from the Premier League.
"Undoubtedly, the story that's been created around them will make them a very, very attractive proposition for many players."

A £2.5m Rangers player has agreed terms with a new club to leave Ibrox as he doesn’t feature in Russell Martin’s plans.
Rangers announce Martin as new manager
The Gers finally brought their long-running search for a new permanent manager to an end on Thursday, with Martin unveiled to the media as Philippe Clement’s successor.
Martin, who had a brief spell on loan at Rangers during his playing days back in 2018, has signed a three-year deal in Glasgow and is confident he can silence the critics.
Looking to win just Rangers’ second Scottish Premiership title in 15 years in 2025/26, Martin has plenty of work to do in a short space of time, with the Gers’ first Champions League qualifier scheduled for July 22/23.
With the transfer window now temporarily open, Rangers will be looking to make their mark in the window, having recently been linked with a move to sign South American midfielder Vicente Pizarro as the first signing of the Martin era.

However, there could also be a number of Ibrox departures ahead of the new season, and an update has emerged on Robin Propper amid claims he is looking to leave the club.
Propper agrees three-year deal to leave Rangers for FC Twente return
According to reports in the Netherlands, relayed by Sport Witness, Propper, who joined Rangers last summer from FC Twente, could be about to make his return to the Eredivisie side.
The Gers paid £2.5m to sign Propper, however, they are now ready to sell the centre-back for half of that figure, with the player himself already agreeing a three-year deal to return to Twente.
An agreement between Twente and Rangers is expected to be finalised quickly, with Propper not in Martin’s Ibrox plans.

The New Zealand leggie on advice from Mitchell Santner, his match-winning spell against India, and his friendship with Rashid Khan
Matt Roller06-Nov-2021Two years ago, Ish Sodhi endured one of the most chastening series in T20I history. Over the course of a five-match series against England, he took three wickets in 15 overs and leaked 11.73 runs an over; never before or since has a player bowled more balls in a bilateral T20I series with a worse economy rate. The challenge was brutal, bowling legspin to a destructive batting line-up on some of the smallest international grounds in world cricket, but even so, the figures were damning. At 27 and as a purveyor of a skill where players peak late, Sodhi had time on his side to reflect on what had gone wrong, and sought out his long-time team-mate Mitchell Santner for advice.”I knew his ability to be aggressive and defensive at the same time was something I definitely had to learn from,” Sodhi recalls, speaking to ESPNcricinfo. “We speak about spin bowling quite regularly – I’m probably the one that’s instigating it most of the time, but having the bowler at the other end to bounce ideas off is great.”Since then, Sodhi has improved markedly in T20I cricket, averaging 17.09 with an economy rate of 7.72, despite playing the majority of games at home. The key, he says, has been stopping worrying about emulating others. “I’ve thought about that [England] series quite a lot over the last two years,” he says. “I remember speaking to a few people about it before I came away [to the T20 World Cup] and where the development had come from.
“He’s definitely revolutionised legspin bowling. The way he does it is unique: it’s not so much the old 90s way that we grew up watching – legspin with two fingers up, two fingers down and trying to get drift and dip. He’s very much into the wickets and relentless with his lines and lengths.”Sodhi on Rashid Khan
“If you look at Imran Tahir, Rashid Khan, Wanindu Hasaranga, all those great legspinners playing a lot of their cricket in Asian conditions, they’re spinning the ball both ways, bringing the stumps into play, I think that’s always been a blueprint for what legspin should look like in T20 cricket. Up until that point, that’s how I based my game in New Zealand – even though most of the time the wickets don’t really allow for much turn.”That series was definitely a reminder that bowling in New Zealand, compared to anywhere else in the world, is unique for any bowler – even more so for a legspin bowler. Playing on small grounds is something we really need to get used to, and it means that having those defensive options is really important. These days in T20 cricket, anyone from No. 1 to 8 or 9 can hit sixes; being a spinner and not having the ability to peg someone back with a bouncer or something like that, it means you have to be really clinical in your lengths.”Sodhi was due to travel to the IPL as Rajasthan Royals’ team liaison officer earlier this year, effectively becoming a standby replacement player and net bowler, but logistical complications meant his winter instead involved a stint at Worcestershire in the T20 Blast. “There were a few things I was working on in the nets over the winter in cold conditions, so it was nice to be able to test those under pressure, and great for my development.”Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner have a bowl in the nets•Getty ImagesIn New Zealand’s opening game of this World Cup, against Pakistan in Sharjah, Sodhi was due to miss out on selection but came into the side at short notice when the ICC confirmed Adam Milne would not be cleared as Lockie Ferguson’s replacement in time; he responded by dismissing Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Rizwan. As a result, he kept his place for their must-win game against India in Dubai. He made use of the bigger boundaries, having Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli caught at long-on to return 2 for 17 and take Player-of-the-Match honours on his 29th birthday. “It was quite a cool day,” he says, smiling. “Any time you play against India the atmosphere is pretty grand and there’s a big population of Indians out in Dubai. The way that we played was just fantastic.”After comfortable wins against Scotland and Namibia, New Zealand have set up an effective quarter-final – from their perspective, at least – against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi on Sunday. Aside from the pressure of a must-win game and the prospect of semi-final qualification, Sodhi is relishing the opportunity to lock horns with his legspin agony uncle.”I’ve spoken to Rash [Rashid Khan] quite a few times,” he says. “It’s good with social media, and I’ve connected with him a few times when I’ve had some questions during some cold winter in New Zealand, when I’ve been working on certain deliveries or my pace. He’s always been great to talk to and it’s great to have that sort of legspin community, when you come across guys like that and can pick their brains and try to improve your own game.”He’s definitely revolutionised legspin bowling. The way he does it is unique: it’s not so much the old 90s way that we grew up watching – legspin with two fingers up, two fingers down and trying to get drift and dip. He’s very much into the wickets and relentless with his lines and lengths. He’s been such a great player for Afghanistan and has done so well around the world in all formats: we know he’s a huge threat for them.”
West Ham United are on the hunt for arrivals and now find themselves in pole position to sign a talented midfielder from the continent, according to a report.
West Ham look for improvement ahead of next season
There are a lot of mitigating factors behind the Hammers’ poor campaign last time out, and James Ward-Prowse believes West Ham need to reflect ahead of the new season to ensure there is no repeat scenario next time out.
He stated: “We know it’s not been anywhere near the level that we know we can produce. In the years gone by, the club’s been used to European triumphs and the campaigns they’ve had.
“So for us not to be able to do that or deliver that again is disappointing. I’m sure we’ll have a period of reflection over the summer to look at what we can improve for next season.”
Inevitably, signings will be necessary for Graham Potter and company to navigate another full-on Premier League campaign, so who have the Hammers got their eye on with the window now well underway?
AC Milan midfielder Yunus Musah is said to be a West Ham target despite interest from Serie A champions Napoli amid reports that they have cooled their admiration for the United States international.

Plenty of work is there to be done as the Irons’ hierarchy look to bring the good times back to the London Stadium. However, rebuilds require patience, so it remains to be seen how Potter opts to reshape his side.
Stepping into the market, West Ham are now reportedly in pole position to sign a powerful midfielder who is attracting plenty of interest from elsewhere.
Tavolieri: West Ham in pole position to sign Raphael Onyedika
According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, West Ham are in pole position to sign Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika despite rival interest from Everton in the Nigeria international.
The Jupiler Pro League outfit want around £25.5 million before agreeing to any sale, and it is said that the Hammers have the most concrete attachment to the 24-year-old at this point.
Operating as a protector of the back four, Onyedika registered two goals and two assists in 52 appearances across all competitions last term, and he also won no fewer than 120 duels on league duty.
Freshening up the engine room will be a key priority for Potter this summer and the man in question certainly fits the bill as someone who could help to elevate the Hammers should they manage to push a deal over the line.
